Michael’s IS300

It’s been a little while since I’ve spent some time doing automotive related coverage for Midwest Automotive and that’s something I want to change for 2021. As everyone is aware with the current world situation it’s been a little more difficult traveling and meeting new people with new builds has been scarce lately. Through some friends I was introduced to Michael (@mlacoste09 Instagram) who has one of the most Badass IS300’s I’ve ever seen.

When’s I asked Michael if he would like to be featured on the website, he jumped at the opportunity and we made it happen. I asked if he would like to add a few words about the history of the car and how he came to acquire it.

“I picked the car up for $3000 from a guy here in St Louis with about 215k miles. The car was completely stock – no mods had been done to it what so ever. The paint was completely sun faded, the tires were bald, the alignment and suspension was completely junk. Since the car drove like an old Buick, I just parked it on the garage till I was ready. I knew I wanted a really cool, streetable, 4 door drift car at some point in my life and ever since my buddy Tyler Greathouse (had one) I completely fell in love with them. I wanted something that I could cruise on the streets anytime I wanted and then beat on all day on the track. From the very beginning I had a crazy vision in my head of what I wanted the car to look like. I always wanted an all white car, something about it is so clean. So, in the middle of a pandemic I started ordering part, after part, after part; then I waited and waited since shipping and orders were backed up for months. Finally the car started to come together as the parts started flowing in and it started to take shape. I could not be any happier with how the car turned out, it was like taking a dream and making it a reality. Of course the car isn’t done yet. For the future, I have a 1JZVVTI motor with a 5 speed R154 transmission to really make the car fun in the coming months. Then I have a complete Livery to go on the car made by @look.spec (Instagram). For now, I’m just trying to keep the car clean and nice and enjoy it as much as I can.” – Michael LaCoste
