Radwood Chicago 2021

Radwood has been on my list of MUST ATTEND events for years. Growing up during the mid 2000’s, 90’s era cars were all that I cared about. I am at the age now where nostalgia is everything, and Radwood era cars are no exception. With COVID last year, and very few Radwood events in the Midwest, I hadn’t had the opportunity to make it to a show yet. This year was going to be another no go, until plans changed last minute and two days before plans were made to attend. We jumped in the car Saturday morning, headed the 1.5hr down to Chicago, and enjoyed what was one of my favorite car shows I have been to in years.

Heavy hitters were right out of the gate. Walking into the show you came across this R34 GTR with a full carbon front, and a black on black NSX.

Another of the JDM kings, this beautiful white FD on Work Emotion D9R attracted quite a few eyeballs.

I will be the first to admit that I am not the biggest BMW fan, but I will always stop for a proper racecar.

IMO, the 80’s car of the show.

This truck crew was the most customized group of cars in the show. The quality was incredible, from custom dashboards and interiors to ultra silky smooth beds, these stood out as some of the most clean and well built vehicles of the show.

To me this is the epitome of the Radwood show. Just some regular, “nobody caring about car”, being unbelievably super clean and a standout among others. This purple was absolutely beutiful and jumped out against the high sun and bright blue skies.

This set of Integras was my favorite 2 car setup at the show. As mentioned before, I love racecars, and that ITR was the cleanest I have ever seen. Looking closer and it only has 5,600 miles on it. Every inch of that car appeared perfect. In my top 3 favorite cars of the show for sure.

One of the great things about the Radwood shows, are the accessories that people stylize their cars with. I never quite understood classic car shows with their period correct adornments, but now I completely understand it. Every inch of the interior of the car was perfectly setup with 80’s & 90’s appropriate items.

I have recently been paying a lot more attention to air cooled Porsches. At just the wrong time. Right as they become un-obtainable.

Really well done Foxbody.

Years ago I was looking for the right SE-R, but just couldn’t find the right one. If the right one fell into my lap…

Coolest car here. Alright, I may be a bit biased because of the Santa Cruz Megatower on the roof (Although my Santa Cruz Hightower is way cooler).

Digging the bright red MR2.

Two absolutely beuatiful cars that always had groups of people around them. The white Turbo S was a real standout.

Overall I was impressed with the show. It wasn’t quite the sheer number of cars that I saw from coverage of the California shows, but that’s what I’ve come to understand here in the Midwest. 90*+ temperatures and absolutely no shade was going to stop this show from being excellent. I hope that Radwood continues to bring the show back to Chicago and that it continues to grow.

Who knows, maybe my DSM will actually be able to participate next time.

Great job on the pics at the Radwood show. I love the pic of my two tone Foxbody, the colors really pop with the filter you used. Well done.
