Restoration in Progress: 57′ Bel Air

I sometimes get comments that Midwest Automotive only features “import cars”. While I understand the comments, I really want to feature a wider variety. This isn’t quite a car feature, but I think many will enjoy the photos. I have been becoming a big fan of patina over the last few years, and this Bel-Air fits perfect. This is Stephen (contributor to this website) and his father’s project, and wanted some pics of it before it went under the knife. I shot it in a small parking lot down the street from his house as they were still working out the bugs after picking it up.

Currently the car is stripped down, and getting a lot of work done to it. Body work is first, and they are deep into fixing all of the rust and straightening metal. The car will be close to a show car status when they are done.

When the car is done and back out, we will have a full feature car article at that time. Until then, enjoy these photos of it as it was purchased.

This shot is my favorite interior photograph I have taken to date. The vibrant colors. The slight rust on the door. The giant tach in the old school styling of the dash. The image just speaks to me.

Well after the sun set, I grabbed a few more photos and we headed home. Make sure to check back later this summer as we should have photos of the semi-finished product.
